...th'14 tunes on this wax(th'original basement tapes) got every cat who heard it flippin' their collective lid, plenty who hadn't been hep enough to grab an earful soon thought they had when cover versions popped into th'hit parade(manfred manns mighty quinn)...th'stories that go with them constitute a whole cornerstone on which rock is built, through expansion'n mutation o'myth...theres some thought this represents th'last LP that was owed to th'company(columbia)before dylan moved over to a more lucrative deal at MGM'n it had been sent to london for th'fabs to hear it(if th'zimm had actually wanted th'commercial release this funky rock would headed off in some crazy tangents with every combo gettin' more messy'n lo-fi by th'minute)...th'fabs did hear th'acetates'n they were solid behind this new way o' doin' things,GETTIN BACK to th'genuine vibe, feelin' th'spirit...mick'n marianne took some tape copies on holiday'n grooved for a fortnight, totally sent into another world by th' ethereal yet funky jams comin' non stop from th'speakers...th'tin-pan-alley guys heard th'sound o' cash registers when it was realised there was great songs here(surreal but that didn't matter) that could easily be worked into poptunes for consumption...in los angeles van dyke parks/brian wilson/turtles/byrds/springfield all got cosy with these tapes that were soon in circulation amongst th'pop-elite in th'centres o'hep'n cool, they all dug th'vibe'n were soon workin' th'ethereal funk into various existin' ideas'n calmin' down after th'earlier years o' excess...these acetates would provide a frame o'reference for dylan to use'n explore for th'next few years,up until th'74 tour with th'band where he got a rock'nroll groove rush on with some blazin' gigs'n some fiery versions o'amphetamine era tuneage...

Thanks for this, though it's authenticity has to be in doubt ....... so easy, I would guess to simply copy these songs out of any of the three different bootleg sets of TBT that are available, and pass them off as 'the original acetate' (which would be pretty crackly, I guess ..). The info on all this is to be found BTW in Million Dollar Bash (by Sid Griffin)

On a more personal note, do you think that people don't comment on your posts because the cryptic nature of your hiding of the link leaves many baffled ..... ever thought of being SLIGHTLY less circumspect? AND, even Bob got out of that hipspeak EVENTUALLY!!!

(And thanks again)

no way is this th'original acetates, they got copied no end, this represents th'known tunes from th'period'n connects it to th'first time vibe, its impressionistic more than any 'reality' groove...
