Wednesday

...soopah, soopah fine blowout o' germacious gunk...overflowin with top swill from th' most full-on, first generation punk combo out on th' left coast...back in th'day a germs gig was somethang to get along to...anythang could happ'n 'n onna good night it probably would...darby crash was th'perfect cat for frontin sucha lurchin freeform slopmeisters who took rockin to new heights o' construction'n awareness...like th'godz a decade before, these layabouts knew it was a case o' gettin th'job done with singular vision, stream o' consciousness inna beatnik style...th' toons on this anthology're well into th'zone o' free flight, just take off 'n go 'n see where it all lands...great swaggerin swaths o' beer soaked crud o' th'first order that goes down real well any time its needed'n brother its needed everyday'n that aint no jive clyde...

Sunday

...th'last in darkthrones original black metal triptych which sees them riffin 'n growlin over th'clatterin o' cheapo cheapo soundin drums...trance inducin minimalism is th'order o'th'day with th'distortion turned up 'n then buried in th'murk...not as chaotic as some black metal from back in th'day, but it doesn't have any jazzy clever geetar techniques that came to ruin th'pure necro metal sound with th' later combos...along with mayhem 'n vlad tepes this is one o' th' greats in a limited field...for such a seeminly simplistic noise its very difficult to get th''correct' sound'n feel as laid down by euronymous 'n dead in th' late 80s but this goes a long way in gettin th' feel...

Thursday

...MONO alert MONO alert...pipers has once more been issued with 'better'sound 'n this time as part o' a present givin package with th'mono given pride o'place 'n well it might be...back in th'day every cat would be wantin th'newly fandangled stereo groover 'n not th'ol dansette mono, that was yesterday'n that was a far away place in underground circles...times were movin in various directions'n so were th'walls in hippee hangouts like th'UFO in ol'london towne where floydian noise'n lights mix with substances from th' garden o' universal id...it was natural to want th'disk to sound all encompassin 'n th' way to do it was thru two channels to meet a cats dual lobes, to be surrounded by hep sound from th' bein's o' NOW...th' mono paints a different picture all together, not only instruments appearin that had been left out/faded from th'stereo shenanigans, but there is much more attack, approachin a'clean' version o' th' live happ'nin 'n some jazzy bit in trk5 gives off vibes toward left coast xperimental heads spirit, hense spannin th' ocean reachin out with their own brand o' NEW MUSIC...its much easier to get inside th'toons 'n hear a band thats got some roots in mid60's dance club r'n'b 'n is progressin without bein in full knowledge o' their accomplishments so th' whole thang is in transgression from one style to another inna fluid sence, it goes where it goes because it does, not cos its been thought out in advance, this is avant garde for th' POP generation...this mono disk is like livin floydian summers for th' first time, a time to be cherish'd when hope was in abundance waitin to be channelled into a brave new world...

Friday

...mid seventees underground rock art attack from nowheresville...mixin up th' past decade o' sounds'n influence debris managed in two sessions lastin less than 7hours to cobble together mind meltin swill from th' other side o' th' galaxy...twisted wig liftin vibrations hammer'd home by a trio o' diseased individuals whose only thoughts were to make some noise that they could enjoy if'n no-one else would...cats with th' sharp ear will hear at differin times such luminaries as wildman larry/canterbury prog/amonduul/hawkwind/david peel all shot into a giant psychodelik blender 'n spew'd out onto a mis-shapen'd aural canvas that is frayed at th' edge 'n soaked in peyote juice...layabouts diggin this're recommended not to operate machinery for at least 12hours after...

Sunday

...where mayhems deathcrush had shown th' underground rock heads worldwide that th' frozen north could produce th' heppest (below)street level rockin they'd heard in many moons, darkthrone produced th' elpee that seal'd th' deal...disownin their first longplayer this is ground zero 'throne, buzzin ugly riffs pile up 'n crush th' listner into some form o' complient submission where th' free will is suspended...th' whole affair kix off with thunderdrums beckonin th' faithfull to th' altar o' mindnumbin metal as th' strings spray screechin fuzz into th' putrid air...best heard thru headphones with th' volume on stun so th' nuances o' th' noise become clearer as th' web o' doom weaves its way 'round sinkin into th' centre o' th' brain...

Saturday

...right from th' getgo two thangs 're obvious 'n thats th' possibly worryin fact that they start this second elpee with a heavy rock version o' 'th' man who paints...' th' heavy rocks okay cos theres enuff doom'n mystery to th' sound that its actually a promisin indication o' whats to come(theres gotta be some comparison with early steppenwolf on th' trk)...th' fact that they start with a reworkin o' their top toon could be rec.co. shenanigans but they could be runnin outta ideas, could be a rough trip or ' a new adventure into new sonix...second trx is barroom blooz, result o' tourin round playin to th' squares...acidblooz, again like da'wolf, is whats happ'nin next with nice fuzzed string bendin...then theres a lounge jazz take on th' ol' 50s standard 'fever' with some groovy late sixoh geetar twangin...next up is some cool buzzin heavy stoner doom fulla some cool phat bass echo throb followed by a mellow jazz suite which in turn gives way to syd barrett/arthur lee grooviness complete with flute...gospelcountryrock crops up then th'last numbers th' late bloomins o' psychpop, a good 18months after th' summer o' love, with some nods to th' doors 'n love with flutes/harpsichord/jimbo style croonin...so summin up th' verdict gotta be that its a worthy follow up second platter if'n th' sounds goin mainstream rock its not yet become generic 'n thats a good boss groove...
